
Over seven carefully planned days, the journey blends sacred monasteries, dramatic landscapes, traditional lifestyles and unique Himalayan spirituality. Beginning with the unforgettable landing into Paro, one of the most scenic descents in the world, you are immediately welcomed by crisp mountain air and sweeping views of terraced fields and cliffside temples.
Travel onward to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital, where ancient traditions coexist with modern rhythms. Visits to Buddha Point, Memorial Chorten and the Takin Reserve provide a gentle cultural orientation, while markets and handicraft centres reveal the country’s artistic heritage.
From here, the route leads across Dochula Pass with its 108 chortens and Himalayan panoramas, continuing down into the lush valleys of Punakha. Explore Punakha Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture set at the confluence of two rivers, and walk through rural villages surrounded by rice fields.
A short hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten rewards travellers with sweeping valley views and insight into Bhutan’s spiritual art traditions. Return to Paro via Lamperi’s Royal Botanical Park, where rhododendron forests and pristine landscapes create a serene outdoor experience.
The highlight of the journey is the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched dramatically 900 metres above the valley floor, an unforgettable encounter with Bhutan’s spiritual soul. Those preferring a scenic drive may instead choose Chelela Pass, one of Bhutan’s highest road passes, with views of sacred Himalayan peaks and fluttering prayer flags.
The itinerary concludes with visits to Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, two sites deeply connected to Bhutan’s Buddhist history. Throughout the trip, you experience Bhutan’s natural beauty, warm hospitality and profound cultural identity.
On arrival at Paro International Airport and after completing immigration formalities, you will be received by our representative. The landing itself is stunning as the plane slowly descends past the magnificent Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) and over the green paddy fields of the breathtaking Paro Valley.
The first experience after deboarding is the wisp of chilly, fresh mountain air tingling around your nose. After arrival, travel to Thimphu, visit the local market and overnight in Thimphu. (Altitude: 2,334m)
After breakfast, drive through the traditional beauty of the capital city along scenic curvy roads near the river. Buddhist chortens and stupas are a common sight. Visit Buddha Point, where a 160-foot Buddha sits at 2850m, then descend to see Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the late 3rd king.
Experience unique wildlife at BBS Tower, famous for the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. Enjoy traditional lunch at Kawazangsa Folk Heritage Museum Restaurant. Later, admire the view of Tashichhodzong, the King’s palace and administrative centre. Visit Zilukha Nunnery and enjoy free time at the National Handicraft Market. Overnight in Thimphu. Early in the morning, head towards Punakha, stopping at the Dochula Pass (3100m) with its 108 temples and breathtaking Himalayan views. Continue down to Punakha for a short excursion to the famous Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility, depending on guest preference. After lunch visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, built in 1637-1638. In the morning drive to Yabesa village and hike through rice fields up to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, built by Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuk. Perched high on a hill above the river, it houses paintings from the Nyingmapa traditions. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the picturesque riverside before exploring Wangduephodrang town.
Visit the local market and the Wangduephodrang Dzong, built in 1639 and strategically located on a spur at the confluence of two rivers. In the 17th century, the region played a major role in unifying western, central and southern Bhutan. Leisure time in the evening. Overnight in Punakha. (Altitude: 1,242m)
