Mohabodhi Temple Complex at BodhGaya
One of the oldest religions practiced in India is Buddhism, founded by Lord Gautama Buddha. The Mahabodhi temple complex at Bodh Gaya deserves a special mention as it is believed that, Bodh Gaya is the place where Lord Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment and started preaching his principles. The Bahabodhi temple complex is more than thousand years old build as an elegant structure, highly venerated by the Buddhists. The seven storeyed temple and other structures inside the temple complex is listed under the World Heritage site by UNESCO.
The most renowned Bodhi tree is at the west side of this temple, under which Lord Gautama Buddha had his revelations. The present tree is believed to be the direct descendant of the ancient one, another place of reverence for the Buddhists and others.
